Laundry, housekeeping and shortcuts!!
My daughter-in-law, as her blog says, swims in laundry; but, she works at it all the time and keeps it under control in spite of her daughter and twin boys. (I want to say and husband, but I don't think he would appreciate it.) I learned from her that if you put a "color catcher" in the wash you can wash all kinds of colors together. I keep telling her that things that go into a drawer do not need to be folded. She still doesn't believe that and all her dresser drawers are all very organized. My laundry always used to be folded and put away; but that seems like a lifetime ago. Now, anything that goes into a drawer is stuffed into the drawer. I only do laundry once every 10 days or so and I started putting everything from the dryer on the bed thinking I would get back to it. I never did and at bed time I had to move it to the chair in the corner of the room. So, now I skip the bed and just put it on the chair and use the laundry from there. This week I discovered that the last load of the week does not even need to be taken out of the dryer; just get stuff out as you need it. Most of the housekeeping rules I had are gone. I used to say "nothing on the counters; nothing on the kitchen table". Now, the only reason I know I have a kitchen table is because it is piled high with stuff I never bothered putting away. I have decided that putting things away is over rated although I might have to enlarge my kitchen and get a second kitchen table.

I hear ya. Years ago, when my kids were little, I used to come home from work and vaccuum! Was I insane or what? Now, as long as I have a somewhat clean place to eat somewhere in the house and the bathrooms don't gross me out too much, it's good.....
